Coachella is coming in hot with two whole weekends of music-filled fun in the Colorado Desert, beginning tomorrow, April 12. If people-watching is your sport of choice, one of the most thrilling parts of this iconic musical event is the massive crowd of cool kids rocking eye-catching looks — granting a chance to glimpse some of your favorite stars, like former Sports Illustrated swimsuit model and TikTok sensation Haley Kalil. Though she’s all about a good laugh, 32-year-old Kalil takes her Coachella beauty essentials seriously. Indeed, she’s a firm believer that carefully prepping what you’ll carry around with you from stage to stage in the desert heat shouldn’t play second fiddle to curating your ‘fits for this outing of a lifetime.

Kalil has over 20 million followers across TikTok and Instagram, where she shares hilarious comedy routines that fans can’t get enough of, but if you’re a beauty lover like us, you’ll find yourself scrolling in awe of her flawless complexion and signature pared-back makeup look. At this year’s Coachella, though, Kalil tells WWD she’s ready to switch things up.

“I wear the same light and natural look every single day. Even though I’m rocking mascara, lip liner, blush, concealer, you name it, I don’t do anything on the eyes,” Kalil shares with WWD in an exclusive interview. “For the festival weekend, I love the idea of doing something unique and artsy and weird, so I brought all kinds of fun eyeshadows and liners.”
As Kalil prepares to embrace the bold glam of festival season and get the Coachella party started, she’s packed eyeshadow pigments from top beauty brands like Makeup by Mario, Pat McGrath Labs, and Dior Beauty. A red carpet pro who’s always camera-ready, Kalil also knows to pack her tried-and-true beauty favorites, like the Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer that she says is incredible for sensitive skin girlies.
“I love Korean-inspired makeup, like the use of light pink and blush tones throughout the face that deliver a doll-like appearance. I also love the ‘disco lips’ trend and any shiny, sparkling glosses,” Kalil says, adding that her Coachella makeup bag is already stuffed with lip glosses from Christian Louboutin, Charlotte Tilbury, and YSL Beauty.
Prepped with a bag of wide-ranging beauty gems, expect Kalil to play around with her aesthetic all weekend long. She anticipates a bold, ombré lip look somewhere in there, courtesy of a red lip shade from Maybelline and her foolproof lip liner combo.
“I love over-lining. I put Anastasia Beverly Hill’s Lip Liner in Deep Taupe outside of my lips, and on the inside of my lips, I use Mac’s Lip Liner in Soar,” Kalil says.
Though looking and feeling your best is a priority for anyone attending Coachella, Kalil is also eager to let loose a little and experience those unscripted moments that end up becoming absolute highlights.
“Last year one of my friends dressed up as a crayon for Doja Cat’s ‘Paint the Town Red,'” Kalil tells us, laughing. “Literally painted head to toe in red, wearing a crayon costume — it was amazing!”
On the note of unscripted moments, Kalil encourages first-time festival-goers to just be themselves at Coachella, both experimenting with fun styles that add to the weekend experience and applying everyday beauty staples that never fail. “That sun is bright, and sometimes a lot of makeup can draw attention to skin’s imperfections, even though I think all of that is B.S. anyways. You should have your skin look however you want!”
Besides a handful of beauty besties, Kalil is also packing the new Patrón El Alto minis — a must-have for sipping and swaying to her favorite jams performed live on the big stage. Other Kalil-approved Coachella necessities include a portable charger, Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Dry-Touch Sunscreen, the bestselling content-creation light she found on Alix Earle’s Amazon Storefront, and lots of layers for when the Palm Springs sun goes down.
When it comes to picking out the perfect Coachella bag to carry around all day, Kalil likes to keep it simple. “Go to target.com and get yourself a fanny pack! It’s a festival, so it’s bound to get beaten up anyways,” Kalil says, sharing that she was taught the value of a good belt bag early on by her mom.

Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Dry-Touch Sunscreen
$8.88
“I’ve been using this since I was little because most sunscreens tend to make me break out. I have sensitive skin, especially when it comes to sunscreen,” Kalil tells WWD, referring to Neutrogena’s Ultra Sheer Dry-Touch Sunscreen, which she applies liberally on both her face and body at Coachella. The non-greasy and non-comedogenic formula will keep burns at bay without feeling too heavy on your skin.

Charlotte Tilbury Pillow Talk Beauty Soulmates Face Palette
$52
Charlotte Tilbury is a brand that’s highly favored by Kalil, and she looks forward to its all-new Soulmates Face Palette for a doll-like look that’s been on her beauty vision board. Featuring a finishing powder for color-correcting and blurring imperfections that might pop up in that brutal desert heat (hello, sweat!), as well as a soft-pink powder blush for covetable rosiness, the heart-shaped palette is also compact enough to place in your fanny pack’s zippered compartment.

Christian Louboutin Rouge Stiletto Vinyl Gloss
$60
This top lip gloss blends elegant color with high-shine glossiness that’ll catch the California light for up to 12 hours. That’s 12 whole hours of you dancing, talking, drinking, and eating without ever putting a damper on the Rouge Stiletto Vinyl Gloss’ reflectiveness, bold pigmentation, and hydrating benefits. As for ensuring whole-body hydration? Kalil urges Coachella festival-goers to drink lots and lots of water throughout the day.

Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer

Kalil’s Nars makeup essential evens skin texture, aids in the skin barrier’s moisture retention, and brightens the whole complexion — ideal for reviving a jet-lagged face as soon as you’re wheels down in Palm Springs International Airport.

Benefit Hoola Matte Bronzing Powder
$19
Because no Coachella look is complete without a bit of a preemptive tan — before you get a natural one, that is — Kalil recommends Benefit’s Hoola Matte Bronzing Powder. “It’s small, it’s square, you can stick it in your fanny pack, and it’s a really nice color.”

Anastasia Beverly Hills Lip Liner
$22
If you love lining your lips as much as Kalil does, be sure to pack this outstanding liner from Anastasia Beverly Hills. It goes on creamy with a velvety-matte finish, has a tip made for mess-free precision, and boasts a color payoff that will overshadow the festival’s headliners. Blurred lips might be trending on TikTok, but this top hit proves liners aren’t going anywhere.

Mac Cosmetics Lip Liner Pencil
$25
Kalil adores this lip pencil in Soar, a deeper pink that has a berry-like essence to it. At Coachella, she’ll be sure to use it for contouring the inside of her lips, which will give the Anastasia Beverly Hills Lip Liner’s brown hue some priceless dimension. A fuller-looking pout is the guaranteed outcome after using both bestsellers; when sealed off with some gloss, they’ll look even more sumptuous.

Patrón El Alto Festival Kit
$119.99
Kalil is a particular devotee of the Patrón El Alto minis and the liquor giant’s brand-new El Alto Festival Kit (already in her Coachella check-in bag), which includes a 150-milliliter bottle of the Patrón El Alto reposado tequila and two collector cups with illustrated designs of the Coachella ferris wheel surrounded by palm trees. The aesthetically pleasing and utterly delicious set is meant to be enjoyed and treasured, just like all the memories you’ll make at Coachella 2025.
Price upon publish date of this article: $119.99
All in Motion Belt Fanny Pack
$19.99
Meet the kind of inexpensive and durable fanny pack Kalil highly recommends (and wears!) at Coachella. Considering the drastic weather shifts that can happen throughout the day, she says that its adjustable waist strap is just the thing for looping your layers around.
Price upon publish date of this article: $19.99
Saint Laurent Cassandre Classic Belt Bag
$1,200
“If you’re really into style and you’re like, ‘Girl, I can’t do a fanny pack,’ Saint Laurent sells fanny pack–style bags that are very chic,” Kalil notes. The designer label’s Cassandre Classic Belt Bag is the way to go if you want to bring fancy vibes to the function.
