Newsflash: Great skin doesn’t happen overnight. As much as we want to believe that a singular anti-aging serum or under-eye patch set will turn back the clock, experts agree that the best way to tackle skin concerns like fine lines and dark spots is to stay loyal to a well-rounded skin care routine — one that’s not restricted to topicals. For upping the ante when it comes to your wrinkle-fighting, radiance-boosting daily regimen, consider LED light therapy. Regular treatments are required for maximum payoff, but light therapy masks are getting more sophisticated by the minute, so you no longer have to spend an arm and a leg (and hours of your time) on a professional session. The one dermatologist-recommended red light therapy device WWD Shop‘s editors reach for at home, years after its initial release? None other than Omnilux’s Contour Face.

Omnilux Contour Face Red Light Therapy Mask

Harnessing the clinically backed wonders of both red and near-infrared light, Omnilux’s Contour Face technology aids in the reduction of fine lines, wrinkles, and other signs of aging. It also mitigates sagging and dullness by stimulating skin’s natural collagen-slash-elastin production rates and supporting cell turnover. The usage sweet spot here is three to five times a week for four to six weeks, with the session frequency tapering off as you enter the maintenance phase. Note that the Omnilux Contour Face Red Light Therapy Mask is not safe for women who are pregnant, planning on becoming pregnant, or breastfeeding, according to the brand.

While there are plenty of wavelength options available on the LED face mask market as we speak, red light is your best bet for rejuvenating skin and preventing future signs of aging. “Red light therapy works at the cellular level to stimulate new collagen production and reduce fine lines and wrinkles,” explains Houston-based, board-certified dermatologist Dr. Andrea Suarez. “It has anti-inflammatory effects on the skin and can also help improve the appearance of sun damage.”
It’s important to note that not all light therapy gizmos are created equal. In our recent analysis-slash-roundup of the best ones to shop in 2026, handheld LED wands, cryotherapy-equipped masks, and even stick-on, teeny devices all made appearances: representing various price points, too. No matter how compact, though, these skin care tools are more of an investment than a simple moisturizer, so you want to ensure that you’re putting your hard-earned money towards a top-quality innovation whose benefits are propped up by hard evidence versus living in the realm of hocus pocus.

Like our team, Dr. Suarez gives her seal of approval to Omnilux’s range of tools because they’ve been analyzed in dozens of peer-reviewed clinical studies, spanning decades of research. “Its devices are not only research-backed but also rigorously tested to ensure safety, which for me is huge when [making recommendations],” she tells WWD.
Our editors test beauty gadgets 365 days a year, so, about a year ago, we jumped at the opportunity to try Omnilux’s LED face mask — a popular choice for celebrities from Mindy Kaling to Quinta Brunson who are looking to get glowy before a red carpet, not to mention being a go-to for the stars’ estheticians themselves (Bella Hadid’s facialist is a fan, which speaks volumes). To ensure the mask’s powers are still competitive, especially in light of new rollouts from companies like Therabody and CurrentBody, we tested it yet again in the present day.
Read on for our honest review of the FSA-eligible Omnilux Contour Face Red Light Therapy Mask, which can be purchased for $395 directly on the brand’s website or at Nordstrom. Then, keep scrolling for tips on how to properly use it: reaping all the rewards. (Your skin’s about to thank you.)

Omnilux LED Mask Review — Editor Testing Notes 2026
We know that compliance is key to reaping the benefits of red light therapy, so our testers have always skewed towards strap-on face masks, whose put-on-and-go ease (in many cases boosted by a cord-free design) makes them most likely to be used on a regular basis. Such masks target the entire face at once and are foolproof — just get strapped in, turn them on, and relax while your skin is busy absorbing all the goodness.
But here’s the thing about red light therapy masks: Many are also uncomfortable to wear. Combine this with lackluster, slow-to-show results, and we’ll usually end up sidelining the tools after a month or two of trialing them. That’s where Omnilux’s Contour Face Mask goes above and beyond alternatives we’ve tried, such as Shark Beauty’s multitasking CryoGlow Cooling & LED Face Mask.
For starters, you don’t have to worry about being tethered to an outlet here. The device is entirely wireless, with a handheld remote included for powering it on whenever you so desire. The Omnilux Contour Face Mask is also made from a silicone material that wins points in malleability; it hugs the contours of the face for full coverage, and our editors reported no signs of nose squishing (or the mask sliding down throughout the procedure, for that matter). It’s so comfortable, in fact, that we encourage taking advantage of the Omnilux offering while you’re handling household chores. Just give your eyes a few moments to adjust (those lights are no joke).

The face mask’s real draw is how quickly and efficiently it doles out the desired results. One of our testers, Claire Sullivan, is in her early 30s, so she has just a few fine lines and wrinkles beginning to surface on the forehead and around the eyes. That being said, the Omnilux bestseller has become a key part of her routine for a full three months, bringing bounce, smoothness, and brightness to her complexion — no pricey doctor’s appointments needed.
Sullivan followed the device’s suggested routine of using it four times a week for the first six weeks, after which she noticed an impressive boost in the texture of her skin. Now, she straps it on just once or twice a week, for 10 minutes at a time, to maintain those covetable effects. Yes, the Omnilux Contour Face Mask is an investment, but when you consider the cost of said dermatologist visits (in many cases $200 or more for one session), this device pays for itself with just a few uses.

Omnilux Red Light Mask FAQs
Does the Omnilux Countour Face Mask work?
Yes. In a recent clinical study, 98 percent of Omnilux Contour Face Mask users reported firmer skin, 96 percent said that their fine lines were less visible, and 95 percent of users noted that their skin was brighter and plumper after using the device three times a week for four weeks.
As with all things related to our skin, patience is essential. “Generally speaking, staying consistent is key to seeing those results,” says Dr. Suarez. “You won’t witness any changes if you only use [the mask] every now and then. For the Omnilux Contour device, I recommend using it three to five times a week for four to six weeks. After that, you can do so a little less frequently each week as maintenance.”
How do you use the Omnilux Contour Face Mask?
Dr. Suarez suggests starting with a clean face that’s free of makeup and sunscreen. Then, proceed to secure the mask onto your face, making sure the Velcro straps are snug but not too tight. Press the remote’s button to activate the mask’s LED bulbs. Once your 10-minute session is up, you can go on with your day or nighttime skin care routine.
In the morning, Dr. Suarez recommends applying an antioxidant serum after using the mask. If you’ve incorporated it into your bedtime rituals, say “yes” to a basic moisturizer or specialized hyaluronic acid serum instead, which helps keep skin supple in dry winter weather. Omnilux actually makes its own, delivering the ingredient in a lightweight formulation that also contains niacinamide to boost the LED mask’s skin-brightening benefits.
How should you clean the Omnilux mask?
Omnilux recommends cleaning your device after each use. To do so, simply sweep a water-based cleansing wipe over the side of the mask that touches your face directly, letting it air-dry afterwards.
