Looking horrid while wearing yellow as of late? You might be entitled to compensation. On a more serious note, this might be because you haven’t yet partaken in a thorough personal color analysis — something that’s been trending for a while now on TikTok, where the relevant hashtag has over 300,000 posts to its name.
Not sure what color analysis even is or don’t know where to start? There’s no better time to get acquainted with the practice that went mainstream in the 1980s with the release of Carole Jackson’s book “Color Me Beautiful,” which first introduced the art of matching individuals to particular seasons — providing them with directives on what to wear and which makeup shades to apply so as to maximize their natural beauty and play to the undertones of their skin.

The Color Trends for Fall/Winter '28-'29 Will Look Soft But Defiant
Cultural conversations surrounding color have reached a fever pitch, due in no small part to Pantone’s controversial Color of the Year announcement for 2026. And, as we speak, hordes of people are also taking trips to South Korea, where the color analysis trend has been embraced to the max — with dozens of color consultation studios cropping up in major cities like Seoul, ready to give their clients detailed breakdowns of the shades they should be wearing more of. Many Asian celebrities have taken part in this service and shared takeaways with fans (Blackpink’s Jisoo is a “Dark Winter,” meaning jewel tones and cool hues are the best option for her complexion).
By this time, you’re probably eager to hop on the bandwagon and wave goodbye to unflattering colors forever. And we’re here to reiterate that it doesn’t take spending upwards of $300 on an in-person session with a professional (or booking a flight to Seoul, for that matter) to get the results you’re craving. Indeed, the analysis couldn’t be simpler — or more affordable! — with the Chromawings Color Analysis Draping Kit sold at Amazon, whose clear instructions and 36 included face frames will help you find your own season in no time, proceeding to post the findings on TikTok, obviously.

On sale for 20 percent off, the kit is quite nitty-gritty, granting insight on all the relevant sub-seasons (like “Soft Autumn,” which means one has lower contrast between their skin, hair, and eyes, setting the stage for wearing dusty, muted colors versus overly bold ones). Each of the frames has an opening made for putting your face up to it and looking in the mirror to see which range of hues makes you come alive. Don’t worry — Chromawings’s how-to guide walks you through exactly the signs to look for, and, as a little bonus, this product also comes with digital resources (like virtual clothing try-on tools) that make the whole experience even more interactive.
The DIY kit‘s end goal is simple: helping you dress for success, which in this case means saying “no” to colors that colloquially “wash you out,” instead swapping them out for those that will make you look vibrant as can be. Not convinced yet that the Amazon offering actually works? Reviewers’ success stories serve as irrefutable proof.
“I thought I was an autumn, and it turns out I’m a summer. I’m really grateful to have used this kit and gained this understanding before updating my wardrobe,” one such Amazon customer reports. “When you’re [wearing] an unflattering color palette, it brings out the darkness under your eyes and texture in your skin. And when you’re in a flattering one, your skin appears smoother and more awake under the eyes. My favorites are the [frames] with sage greens: It’s a really obvious difference on me.”
Once you buy this unique gift for yourself, make sure to make some repeat purchases for your fashion-loving mom, TikTok-obsessed sister, or any woman in your life who’s been complaining about looking paler than usual in her winter garb. In fact, we urge you to make a party out of it (which was a popular undertaking in the ’90s): inviting all your girlfriends for a night of Champagne, cheer, and color study, from which they’ll all walk away feeling more confident and in tune with themselves.
Are you a “Warm Spring,” “Soft Autumn,” or “Deep Winter”? Waste no time in finding out, while simultaneously securing a top-notch present for the lucky lady who’s hard to shop for: effectively making her Christmas morning even more colorful.

What Is a Color Analysis?
The aim of a personal color analysis is to find out what the most flattering colors are for any given individual, based on factors like the contrast of their facial features and the temperature of their skin tone. In-person color consultations, booming in South Korea but now also found in major U.S. cities like New York, usually involve draping a plethora of fabric swatches over a client — tracking which ones have the strongest effect (i.e. which hues make the complexion look more vibrant, avoiding dreaded dark circles or an overall “washed out” look).
At the end of most color analyses, clients walk away knowing what season they are. There are 12 in total, meaning they go beyond the traditional spring, summer, fall, and winter: instead getting more specialized with names like “Bright Winter,” “Cool Summer,” “Light Spring,” and “Deep Autumn.” Similar to how knowing more about your zodiac sign can help you better understand your tendencies and personality traits, determining your season, in context of a personal color analysis, will allow you to optimize the way you dress: avoiding black-and-white stripes, for example, and settling on deep blue.
Is a Color Analysis Helpful?
A color analysis is a helpful tool for those dreaming of a style upgrade: one that might not even require shopping for new clothing. Once you find out your season and the subsequent shades to keep in your sartorial rotation, so as to look your very best, chances are you’ll spot them swathing the blouses, cashmere sweaters, scarves, and coats already found in your winter capsule wardrobe. And while a multi-hour, in-person color analysis might dole out more advanced findings (complete with extras like contact lens color recommendations and styling sessions), it’s now possible to partake in the experience from the comforts of home, getting valuable feedback as to the colors that best suit your face.
How Much Does a Color Analysis Cost?
While an appointment with a specialist in South Korea can cost up to $300 (and some studios we found in New York have services that clock in at over $500), the Chromawings Color Analysis Draping Kit found at Amazon offers you a similar result for just $50. Grab the bestseller while it’s on sale for 20 percent off, and get to analyzing, stat!
