“Suede continues to show strong momentum thanks to its versatility. It resonates across seasons, pairing effortlessly with classic autumn fabrics like wool and cashmere, as well as lighter summer materials such as linen and cotton,” Paulina Liffner, creative director of accessory brand Liffner, tells WWD.

On the Fall 2025 runways, designers brought suede bags front and center in every form: Prada showcased rounded suede bowling bags for a fresh silhouette; Gucci leaned into oversized, relaxed suede totes; and Alaïa proved the nap texture works just as well in small, sculptural shoulder bags. Celebrities like Anya Taylor-Joy, Katie Holmes, and Bella Hadid (who’s been spotted carrying Coach’s viral brown Brooklyn bag) have jumped aboard the suede bag train, all culminating in fall’s defining accessory trend. The only difference this season? There are more luxury suede bag colorways and silhouette options to choose from than ever.

Rich brown suede bags remain the trend’s most predominant, appearing on the arms of countless style insiders, but new colors are also entering the chat. “Chocolate brown continues to be a bestseller — it’s a classic shade that customers return to season after season,” Liffner says. “For fall, we’re also seeing customers invest in black suede, which offers the same richness and texture while feeling especially timeless.”

As for top suede bag shapes, “suede pairs really well with softer, more relaxed silhouettes, like slouchy shoulder bags and hobos, giving them a polished but easy feel,” Liffner says. Designers from The Row to Massimo Dutti have co-signed that notion with relaxed shapes that veer into bohemian territory. In contrast, suede works just as well in structured shapes, such as top handle styles, mini bags, and even streamlined bucket bags. As Liffner confirms, many brands are extending beyond the quintessential suede totes this season into new silhouettes like bowling bags and pouch styles.
