Since its debut earlier this year, Coach’s quilted leather Tabby Bag has swiftly risen to icon status with over 12 million views on TikTok and limited-edition colorways — be it denim Tabby bags or pastel Tabby bags — selling out within hours of their release. Once again, Coach is tapping into emerging trends to render the quilted Tabby bag in a must-have design that’s going to fly off the virtual shelves: For its latest drop, Coach has bedecked its Tabby 26 Bag in a print that nods to the ’90s daisy trend, best exemplified by Drew Barrymore’s iconic grunge girl beauty looks of the era.

Daisy hair barrettes were a staple for Barrymore during her wild child era, but she didn’t style them in a girlish way. Rather, the starlet would team this feminine detail with ’90s grunge-era garments and makeup: namely heavily powdered skin, sparse eyebrows, and rich, burgundy-red lipstick that on some occasions was so dark it read black. Barrymore styled this beauty beat on numerous red carpets during the 1990s, but perhaps most iconically when she arrived to the 1997 MTV Awards with rock-chic icon Courtney Love on her arm, two flowers fixed in hair, and a strapless floor-length gown.
By combining delicate, girly daisies with pitch-black garments, lingerie-inspired mini dresses, and choker necklaces, Barrymore was the blueprint for grunge glam throughout the ’90s. This subversive styling of feminine details with rebel-girl fashions and rocker-chic makeup is exactly the impression we get from Coach’s newest Tabby 26 Bag. Yes, that daisy print is certainly sweet, but the pitch-black leather contrasts the femininity with cool girl edge, preventing this Coach Tabby handbag from entering saccharine ‘coquette’ territory.

The arrival of Coach’s quilted Tabby Shoulder Bags in this devil-may-care daisy print also aligns with the modern boho moment that we’ve seen on runways — think Chloe’s spring 2024 collection, which was full of platform clogs, ruffles, aviator sunglasses, and flared jeans. This tracks, as ’90s fashion was heavily influenced by 1960s style, where flower power fashions took off. Even as Y2K’s minimalistic trends began to pervade the style lexicon, daisies (in all their forms) held their footing with up-and-coming designers of the early 2000s. Marc Jacobs launched the now iconic Daisy women’s perfume in 2003; Anna Sui sent models down the spring 2004 runway with daisy-covered coats.
As one of Coach’s most iconic handbags, the Tabby 26 Shoulder Bag is a fit canvas to carry this enduring motif: This shoulder bag is a modern take on the brand’s archival bag from the ’70s, done in buttery nappa leather with quilted detailing, an adjustable leather-woven chain strap, and Coach’s signature ‘C’ hardware. The Tabby 26 Bag With Quilting and Floral Print sits snugly on the shoulder, but it’s spacious enough to fit your cell, lip gloss, headphones, and keys, with extra room for soft goods like tissues or scrunchies.
On top of the Tabby 26 Shoulder Bag, the collection also includes daisy prints on additional Coach handbag silhouettes. Consider the Cassie crossbody handbag, a compact purse that brings attitude to a night-out look with a leather jacket. Or, go with the Swinger shoulder bag that’d feel right at home on a picnic with a summer dress and combat boots á la Olivia Rodrigo (Gen Z’s girly-grunge leader).
A girl will always take her flowers, and Coach has the freshest picks of the season. The Coach Floral World collection is available to shop now at Coach.com, but you’ll want to act fast to land these bags — previous collections have sold out in mere hours.
