“In like a lion, out like a lamb” is our motto as spring ever-so-slowly creeps in — but, in the meantime, what better way to get excited for the sunshine ahead than collecting a new candy-colored shoulder bag? Spring cleaning is officially underway, which, as far as we’re concerned, means it’s time to ditch dreary dark tones and revitalize your handbag rotation with a fresh dose of color. Coach’s newly released quilted Tabby Shoulder Bags in sugary-sweet hues are perfect for brightening up your post-winter wardrobe, and seamlessly play into pastel trends that are at the forefront this season.

Pastels for spring? Groundbreaking — at least according to the designer handbag forecast for spring and summer 2024. We saw pale pops and soft earth tones done in luxe leather across countless runways, from subdued eggshell hues to peachy pinks, periwinkles, mint greens, and buttery yellows. Contrasted by bright gold and silver hardware, the season ahead will be defined by statement-making accessories that add an extra drop of color to lively ensembles. Think: A yellow midi skirt teamed with a rose-toned bag; an orange maxi dress juxtaposed with a baby blue clutch; or monochromatic mint from head-to-toe. Like freshly-picked flowers, the new Coach Tabby Bag collection is your ticket to mastering every shade of the trend.

The newest Tabby Shoulder Bag silhouette, a modern iteration of an archival 1970s Coach design, comes in structured nappa leather, tufted in plush quilting, and finished with the brand’s signature shiny hardware. Newly available in “Hay” yellow, “Moss” green, “Buff” blush, soft “Chalk,” and muted “Grey Blue,” it offers plenty of styling versatility, thanks to long leather chain straps that convert to a crossbody bag for hands-free hauling. Plus, you have the option to shop the pastel palette in the Tabby 26 size, which fits a long day’s worth of essentials, like a wallet, phone, sunglasses, earbuds, and more, in three large main compartments, or opt for the Tabby 20 as a small but mighty mini bag for day to night wear, which features four compact pockets for storing smaller items.
To celebrate the launch, Coach launched a #CourageToBeRealCampaign in a “Pastel World” inhabited by none other than the talented and fashion-forward Lil Nas X. Lounging on a life-size chessboard amongst a futuristic cityscape, the rapper reps his “courage to change the game” as a superpower, rejecting the notion of living by someone else’s rulebook, with the moss-toned Tabby 26 bag in hand.

Just like that post-winter lion, New York Fashion Week has been roaring with street style spotlighting the lambskin Tabby in transitional ensembles, positioning it as a promising bestseller. Outside of the Coach Fall 2024 runway, we spotted the Easter egg hues of Tabby Bags paired with everything from metallics to denim, quirky Coach knits, and long leather jackets, with each appearance acting as a colorful statement against mixed textures and prints. Gone are the days of overthinking playful colors — the Tabby makes the case that function and fun can exist in the same sentence.
Coach Tabby Shoulder Bags are an icon in their own right, with explosive virality on TikTok of users posting reviews, collection tours, and endless outfit inspiration. One creator, @therikkilee, shared her exciting unboxing of the “Silver/Hay” Coach Tabby Shoulder Bag 20 with Quilting. “I hit a major milestone so I gifted myself a gorgeous pastel yellow bag. She’s beautiful,” she says in the video, showing off her custom monogram tag. “Look at how cute this is! I am literally so obsessed.” Another happy customer raved on Coach’s site, saying, “I cannot say enough about this everyday bag. It is so timeless and can go with any outfit. It is so perfect for brunch with the girls, date nights with your boo, or really any occasion. 10/10 highly recommend.”
