There are wardrobe basics, and then there are the basics that make you reconsider everything else in your closet. Gap and A.P.C. are betting on the latter with their first collaboration, a 37-piece meeting of American sportswear and Parisian restraint that makes jeans, striped knits, and button-downs feel decidedly more interesting.
It is also the kind of collaboration that makes almost suspiciously good sense. Gap knows denim; A.P.C. has practically made an art form out of it. Both understand the enduring appeal of clothes that whisper rather than shout, so there are no gratuitous logos or blink-and-you’ll-miss-it microtrends here. Instead, the Gap x A.P.C. collection focuses on pieces with staying power: premium denim, cable-knit cardigans, tailored Oxford shirting, functional outerwear, corduroy, and accessories.

Prices run from $28 to $328, making the collaboration an unusually accessible entry point into A.P.C.’s Parisian design language. Select men’s denim jackets and relaxed straight jeans are made from premium Japanese denim and come in under $200. On the women’s side, Gap’s High Rise Stride and Low Rise ’90s Loose silhouettes appear in 100 percent cotton rigid denim, offering two very different answers to the age-old question: What jeans are we wearing now?
The wider collection takes cues from 1960s cinema, music, and art, which explains the Breton stripes and slightly nostalgic proportions. Cashmere, wool, and corduroy add textural interest, while the pared-back palette and classic silhouettes make everything refreshingly easy to integrate into an existing fall wardrobe.
That wearability is precisely the appeal. These are not pieces destined to live in the back of the closet after the collaboration buzz fades. A striped knit can sharpen your favorite jeans; a rigid denim jacket adds structure over softer layers; an Oxford shirt remains an Oxford shirt long after the algorithm moves on.
Naturally, some of the most desirable Gap x A.P.C. pieces are becoming harder to find. So, rather than mourn what is already gone, we did the useful thing and found what is still in stock. Shop our edit of the remaining standouts, while sizes are still on your side.
Best Cashmere Sweater
Gap × A.P.C. Cashmere Sweater
$228
A striped crewneck is hardly revolutionary, but render it in 100 percent cashmere and suddenly we’re paying attention. The relaxed silhouette makes it particularly good with rigid denim, trousers, or even a slip skirt.
Best Corduroy Pants For Fall
Gap × A.P.C. High Rise Corduroy Stride Pants
$118
Corduroy tends to reappear the second temperatures dip, but this pair feels less nostalgic revival and more wardrobe mainstay. The high rise and wide leg create an elongated silhouette, while subtle Gap x A.P.C. branding keeps the collaboration factor discreet.
Best Denim Jacket
Gap × A.P.C. Lined Japanese Denim Jacket
$198
A denim jacket is hardly a novel proposition, but Japanese denim certainly raises the stakes. This dark-rinse iteration has a classic, straight fit, with a printed twill lining providing a little something unexpected on the inside.
Best Oversized Denim
Gap × A.P.C. Japanese Denim Relaxed Straight Jeans
$148
Good jeans should get better with age, and this pair is designed to do exactly that. The rigid Japanese denim will soften and develop character over time, while the relaxed straight leg has that borrowed-from-the-boys nonchalance.
Best Preppy Button-Up
Gap × A.P.C. Relaxed Logo Oxford Shirt
$88
There’s nothing more reliable than a crisp Oxford, but the relaxed proportions keep this one from feeling too buttoned-up. Pair it with rigid denim for an easy lesson in transatlantic prep.
Best Oversized Blazer
Gap × A.P.C. Corduroy Blazer
$168
Your favorite denim jacket can sit this one out. This corduroy blazer brings the same throw-it-on versatility with considerably more sartorial intrigue, courtesy of an olive palette and classic tailoring.
Best Carry-All
Gap × A.P.C. Logo Tote Bag
$88
For commuters, chronic overpackers, and anyone who refuses to travel light, this one earns its keep. The capacious cotton-canvas design handles the practical stuff, while the corduroy logo makes it far more interesting than your standard carryall.
Best For In-Between Weather
Gap × A.P.C. Coated Canvas Coach Jacket
$148
Somewhere between a workwear jacket and a classic coach silhouette, this coated-canvas layer has fall written all over it. A corduroy collar breaks up the black, while the relaxed fit leaves plenty of room for a chunky knit underneath.
Best Fall Mini Skirt
Gap × A.P.C. Denim Mini Skirt
$78
The denim mini is officially back in the chat. This pared-back version has the kind of ’90s disposition that looks particularly good with an oversized Oxford, loafers, and a little insouciance.
Best Coat For Winter
Gap × A.P.C. Oversized Sherpa-Lined Utility Parka
$268
This is the coat you’ll be grateful for once fall’s charming little chill becomes actual winter. The oversized canvas silhouette is fully sherpa-lined, with a drawcord waist allowing you to temper all that volume when the mood strikes.
