What does American fashion look like in 2026? At Macy’s, the answer is less about one definitive aesthetic and more about six very different design perspectives.
The retailer has tapped Tommy Hilfiger, Donna Karan New York, Michael Kors, Jonathan Cohen, Lapointe, and Theophilio for its Fall 2026 Celebrate American Designers campaign, a series of limited-edition capsule collections available exclusively on the Macy’s website. Together, the designers put their own sartorial signatures on the great American wardrobe, spanning heritage codes, fluid tailoring, statement dressing, expressive prints, and Caribbean-influenced streetwear.

Tommy Hilfiger knows his way around prep, and this capsule gives the classics — from cable knits and varsity jackets to denim and chinos — a timely refresh, in the form of sharper proportions fused with archival touches. Donna Karan New York takes her tailoring in a softer direction, swathing fluid silhouettes that move beautifully with the body in rich, considered neutrals. And then there’s Michael Kors, bringing all the drama with animal prints, fringe, and elevated fabrics that encourage dressing up, even when the calendar says Tuesday.
eXPLORE mACY’S’ faLL 2026 aMERICAN dESIGNER lineup
Rounding out the lineup is a younger generation of American talent, including Jonathan Cohen, whose artful approach to color, print, and materiality grants his collection a thoughtful (yet never overly precious) point of view. Lapointe, meanwhile, leans into statement separates with its monochromatic sets, tactile textures, and embellishment. And Theophilio’s Edvin Thompson continues to draw from his Jamaican heritage and New York experience alike, incorporating vibrant color, movement, airbrush art, and graffiti-inspired details.
That sheer range is arguably the most interesting part of the collection. American style has never really been one thing, and the just-launched Macy’s assortment makes room for its many frames of reference. For shoppers, it’s an invitation to pick a lane… or ignore the pavement markings altogether.
The collections were released Sept. 8 and are now available at select Macy’s stores and online, giving fashion insiders a chance to discover both established American designers and some of the industry’s newer voices — in one unmissable autumnal lineup.
Best Fall Clutch
Donna Karan New York Leather Clutch Handbag
$448
There’s something undeniably chic about an outsized clutch tucked neatly beneath the arm, and Donna Karan gets the proportions just right. The leather style takes its cues from crisp poplin, bestowing a fresher finish upon the evening staple. Pair it with a long coat, pointed flats, and a little confidence, then call it a night.
Best Cozy Sweater
Michael Kors Wool Pullover Sweater
$169.50
Some sweaters are strictly for staying in; this one has places to be. Michael Kors’ wool pullover introduces a neat mock neck to a timeless silhouette that looks just as good tucked into tailored trousers as it does peeking out from your favorite jacket.
Best Preppy Cardigan
Tommy Hilfiger American Icons Cardigan
$129
If your fall mood board has even a hint of East Coast prep on it, say “yes” to this cardigan. Tommy Hilfiger keeps things slim and streamlined here, adding a button front and crest embroidery that beg to be styled with loafers and, perhaps, an impossibly gorgeous trench coat.
Best Cable-Knit Staple
Tommy Hilfiger American Icons Crewneck Sweater
$199
Cable knits are direct links to fashion’s more old-school sensibilities, but this one doesn’t feel like it belongs in a country-club catalog. The secret? Hilfiger lets its color-blocked stripes and textured stitching do all the talking.
Best Faux-Fur Coat
Michael Kors Faux Fur Long Vest
$229.50
The easiest way to make jeans appear decadent is to add faux fur on top. Michael Kors’ long vest at Macy’s flaunts a plush finish, notch collar, and elongated profile — turning even the most basic sweater-and-denim combo into a proper look.
Best Fall Trench Coat
Tommy Hilfiger American Icons Oversized Trench Coat
$369
A classic trench coat, with room to breathe. Tommy Hilfiger’s oversized creation has that borrowed-from-the-boys appeal we keep coming back to, and it will do its best work when thrown over a slim knit plus wide-leg bottoms.
Best Year-Round Denim
Jonathan Cohen Denim Button-Up Shirt
$149
A denim shirt can be many things: a jacket substitute, a layering piece, or the answer to “what do I wear with these pants?” Jonathan Cohen’s version makes a strong case for all three, with a button-up composition that puts the styling reins in your hands.
Best Fall Sweater Dress
Theophilio Striped Sweater Dress
$159
No shortage of sweater dresses arrive on the scene each fall, but Theophilio’s is playing a different game altogether. Its ribbed design utilizes stripes and color to infuse added life into the familiar item, helping it moonlight as an antidote to the season’s vast sea of quiet-luxury neutrals.
Best Silk Scarf
Lapointe Silk Printed Square Scarf
$79
A white shirt, straight-leg jeans, and the pictured scarf? Now that’s an outfit formula that hits all the high notes. Lapointe’s printed silk square layers on the visual interest, whether you tie it into a neat knot at the neck or let it hang loose under an open jacket.
Best Jeans for Going Out
Theophilio High-Rise Rhinestone Jeans
$179
The aforementioned straight-leg jean gets a sparkling makeover courtesy of Theophilio, whose high-rise pair is sprinkled with rhinestones from top to bottom. The result straddles the line between eye-catching and surprisingly wearable (especially with a crisp button-down, sleek flats, and minimal jewelry).
