The sun is shining, vacations are booked, and bathing suit season is finally here. It’s the perfect time to refresh last year’s swim wardrobe with the best one-piece swimsuits for summer 2023. We see one-piece swimsuits get elevated each season. The runways at Miami Swim Week 2023 hinted toward one-piece silhouettes in a range of intriguing hues and cuts at brands like Acacia and LainSnow.

“We are seeing more design details transferred across from ready-to-wear collections,” explains Libby Page, Market Director at Net-a-Porter. “For instance, Christopher Esber’s signature cutouts, once featured on dresses alone, can now be found in the brand’s swimwear offerings.”

While one-piece bathing suits can simplify swimwear, they don’t have to be aesthetically boring or worn purely for function. Pamela Anderson’s red “Baywatch” swimsuit is arguably the most iconic swimsuit in pop culture history. In recent years, sporty styles of high leg cuts and skin-skimming fabrics have renewed demand — Anderson now has a collection with Frankie’s Bikinis, including styles inspired by her ’90s suit. We’ve seen Barbiecore pink from brands like Skims and Athleta, as well as on the Miami Swim Week runways from Kass, Gengi Swimwear, JAMS by Jillian, Amarotto Swimwear, and Banana Moon. Pink is never out of style and a one-piece suit can wear similarly to a body suit in cute summer outfits like cut-off Levi’s 501 shorts and matching Barbiecore shoes.
