A bouquet of lush, vibrant flowers is one of the most classic gifts for moms, and you’re spoiled for choice when it comes to choosing a flower delivery service to hand deliver those blooms. Of the hundreds of Mother’s Day flower delivery services on the market, few have as many bouquet options as 1-800-Flowers — so our editors put the service to the test to inspect the experience from searching for a bouquet to receiving it at our door.
Similar to handbags, flower arrangements run the gamut from investment-worthy stunners to more affordable options for everyday occasions. On top of price, there’s also delivery time, customer service, and, of course, the quality of the flowers to consider: The flowers you order should arrive on time, the blooms should be fresh rather than wilted, and the bouquet should align with the image of what you ordered online.

1-800-Flowers Editor Testing Review
-
Product ordered: Honey Bee Buzz for Spring bouquet
-
Pros:
- Fast delivery that arrived earlier than anticipated
- Flowers were hand delivered with protective packaging for the vase and blooms
- Bouquet included a mix of bloomed and budding flowers that extend the lifespan of the bouquet
- Multiple payment options accepted, including payment plans via Klarna
-
Cons:
- Service fees vary based on location and delivery window; however Celebrations Passport members can get free shipping with a small annual fee
For starters, 1-800-Flowers.com is a user-friendly website to navigate: There’s plenty of tabs, filters, and sorting mechanisms that guide you to the most gorgeous bouquet for your budget. The occasion edits are more organized than other flower delivery services we’ve tested — toggle over to the Mother’s Day tab, and you’ll see an expansive menu that details all the goodies 1-800-Flowers can deliver, including potted plants, gourmet foods, seasonal wreaths, and small to extra large bouquets. You also have the option to search by recipient, in case you’re looking for extra guidance on selecting a Mother’s Day gift for your wife versus your grandmother.
After filtering through 10 pages of blooms, the Honey Bee Buzz for Spring bouquet caught our eye with its pastel pink roses, vibrant asters, and alstroemeria. Rather than filler foliage, this 1-800-Flowers bouquet featured a medley of greenery studded with gorgeous Queen Anne’s lace for added dimension.
We opted for the $59.99 small variation of the bouquet, and began the surprisingly fast check out process. After inputting the delivery zip code, a handful of delivery options surfaced with markings on the price increase — expect to spend about $4 extra for same-day delivery and about $3 extra for weekend deliveries and holidays. We were pleased to see that you can schedule a delivery up to a month out (perfect for securing the best flower delivery for Mother’s Day before bouquets start selling out). Within 1 hour and 45 minutes of clicking ‘place order,’ the flowers were hand delivered to our office via a courier.

The bouquet arrived to us mostly as advertised, including the flower varietals listed on the product page and in similar colors to the image on the website. The roses were fully bloomed and fragrant, while the alstroemeria hadn’t quite fully opened (great for the longevity of the bouquet). It’s also worth noting that the porcelain vase the flowers arrived in was carefully protected in a structured cardboard box with plastic wrapping around the blooms for safekeeping, and both were easy to dismantle.
We also appreciate that 1-800-Flowers supports local florists — this ensures fresh, high-quality blooms that are grown and transported to you more sustainably than ordering from a florist in a far-flung area. Another bonus? Customer service followed up with us swiftly after ordering and receiving the flowers to ensure it met our expectations. And it sure did! With daily trims and water, our bouquet is looking fresh as a daisy on day five and counting.

How We Tested 1-800-Flowers Floral Delivery Service
Since 1910, WWD — often referred to as “the fashion bible” — has been the leading industry voice of authority for senior executives in the global women’s and men’s fashion, retail and beauty communities, while also informing the consumer media that cover the market. Today, WWD’s breaking news and trend coverage continues to be a trustworthy resource for both fashion insiders and consumers alike. Our shopping editors continue to uphold WWD’s editorial standards and values with quality, expert-backed product selections.
To write this review of 1-800-Flowers’ floral delivery service, our editors independently placed a bouquet delivery order with our own hard-earned cash. Our editors documented every step of the process along the way, timing both the checkout process and how long it took the bouquet to arrive after placing the order. Once the bouquet arrived, we inspected the quality of the flowers and compared it to the image of the bouquet online to ensure it matched the standard shown on the website. We also monitored how the flowers held up in the days after the delivery. Learn more about us here.

During checkout, our editors were able to select a delivery date with clear transparency on potential price increases. 1-800-Flowers also details the delivery windows and disclaims potential substitutions before you place your order. WWD/Adam Mansuroglu
