Approximately 32.8 percent of adults don’t get enough sleep. We hate to be the bearers of bad news, but this poses a lot of problems on a personal and societal level — from weakened immunity to increased chances of distracted driving.
Want to cultivate better sleep hygiene, all things considered? There are a few ways you can begin.
“The basics matter much more than the gadgets. Keep a fairly consistent sleep and wake schedule, get bright light in the morning, exercise regularly, and give yourself some time to transition from the demands of the day into sleep,” Dr. Shelby Harris, a board-certified clinical psychologist who specializes in behavioral sleep medicine, shares with WWD. “Your bedroom should be cool, dark, and comfortable, but you don’t need a special eye mask, tea, supplement, or weighted blanket to sleep well. Those things can be nice additions if you enjoy them, but they aren’t requirements for healthy sleep.”

That being said, we’re commerce writers, and we’ve tested no shortage of masks, supplements, and blankets that have made a difference in our sleep: at the very least contributing to a pleasant environment that shepherds us from sheep-counting to rapid eye movement.

The ideal amount of sleep you should be procuring per night varies based on individual, with the sweet spot hovering somewhere between seven and nine hours for adults. And though everyone’s symptoms of sleep deprivation also look slightly different, the Cleveland Clinic identifies daytime fatigue, irritability, headaches, and lack of focus as the most common outcomes of getting less than the advised dose of ZZZs on any given night.
If you’re all too familiar with tossing, turning, and the dread of laying in bed for hours — unable to “turn off” your brain — you’re overdue for a habit upgrade first and a bedroom upgrade second.
The below products, tested by WWD Shop, will secure the latter (and occasionally the former) in a blink.
BEST WEIGHTED BLANKET
Lola Blankets Weighted Blanket in Surfside
$325
For the past few years, Lola Blankets has been busy popping up at New York Fashion Week — hosting runway shows that blur the line between its luxury blankets and haute couture. The viral brand originated five years back, but 2026 is looking like Lola Blankets’ most successful chapter to date: punctuated by the opening of a flagship location in NYC, a fresh campaign with “Off Campus'” Belmont Cameli, and other strategic inroads made into the cultural zeitgeist.
Noting this hype, I was a bit skeptical when I first laid my hands on a medium-sized Lola Weighted Blanket in the Surfside print (a pleasing-on-the-eyes, blue-on-white swirl). Would it actually help me drift off faster? Would its weight nail an equilibrium between grounding and not stifling?
It’s safe to say I became a convert overnight, as the Lola wrapped me up in the plush, breathable embrace of her double-sided faux fur. I was tempted to caress the blanket’s bubble stitching for hours at a time, complemented by its double-hemmed edges that dole out greater durability.
Every night around 9 p.m., I now let the Lola activate my parasympathetic nervous system with her gentle pressure. It works, dear reader, and my sleep has never been this sumptuous. Courtesy WWD/Stacia Datskovska
BEST SLEEP SUPPLEMENT
Lemme Sleep Tight Gummies
$26/month
At WWD, we’re major fans of Lemme’s science-backed supplements, having covered (and tested) its NAD+ capsules for longevity, collaborative skin gummies launch with Kylie Cosmetics, and new gummy rings that tackle visible signs of aging. The Sleep Tight dietary supplement, though, is a true O.G. for the Kardashian-helmed company — still dominating its category despite being released four years ago.
Hundreds of thousands of people take two Lemme Sleep Gummies a night and swear by the results. I’m one of them. I’ve had mixed experiences with melatonin (read: creepy, lucid dreams), but Lemme’s formula bypasses all that with its non-habit-forming, drug-free blend of melatonin, magnesium, L-theanine, chamomile, lavender, and elderberry — for falling asleep faster, staying asleep throughout the whole night, and waking up sans grogginess.
Inherently calming, the gummies will do their best work when you make them a consistent part of your pre-sleep routine.
Take it from me and subscribe to Lemme’s monthly send, which will save you 15 percent on every bottle. Courtesy WWD/Stacia Datskovska
BEST SLEEP MASK
Loop Eclipse Sleep Mask
$49.95
Loop, known for its industry-leading ear protection (which our team has employed during concerts, F1 races, conversations in loud bars, and, as luck would have it, sleep), has recently branched out beyond this niche, trying its hand at sleep masks. The ethos binding the two endeavors? Sensory deprivation can be beneficial if it’s done right, and you better believe Loop is doing it right.
Its Eclipse rollout is an under-$50 miracle maker — fully blocking out surrounding light and molding around your eyes with a carved-out design. The mask grants ample space to blink, letting me fall asleep quicker in comparison to silk alternatives on the market. Its soft foam and adjustable band also make a strong case for introducing the purchase to your nightstand, but the Eclipse’s biggest advantage, at least the way I see it, is that it grips skin without slipping.
No matter how often I switched from fetal position to sleeping on my back, the mask stayed put. Courtesy WWD/Stacia Datskovska
BEST SLEEP AND MEDITATION APP
BetterSleep App
BetterSleep is the ultimate virtual sleep hero, and it’s about time you started paying attention to everything the app can provide. The award winner, deemed Apple’s “App of the Day” over 60 times, can connect you to a licensed sleep therapist and even send over an FDA-cleared home sleep test, but my most-used BetterSleep features involve its guided, multiday programs; sound byte library that sends me straight to Dreamland (pro tip: Play “forest rain” or “fire crackles” first); and meditations-slash-visualizations.
With the Sleep Recorder function — which records the sounds you make at night — it’s possible to get nitty-gritty insights into your snooze patterns and gain subsequent control of your sleep cycle. On the weekends, I also turn to the platform’s Smart Alarm, which wakes users up naturally versus jarringly.
After a seven-day free trial, BetterSleep will cost you $69.99 a year. When it comes to optimizing your sleep, though, every penny’s worth it. Courtesy WWD/Stacia Datskovska
BEST SLEEP CLOCK
Hatch Sleep Clock
$249.99
Meet Hatch’s new, sleep tracking–enabled smart clock, which positions itself as a 2.0 version of the earlier Restore 3 model — gradually memorizing your sleep preferences and generating personalized, relevant recommendations. Both clocks are equipped with thousands of audio options for making your wind-down rituals more enjoyable, not to mention Hatch’s most famous spec: a sunrise alarm, which emits light that gets brighter and brighter and is accompanied by soothing sounds (a far cry from your phone’s jolting bells or buzzers).
Hatch doesn’t resort to uncomfortable, sleep-tracking wearables, instead utilizing a low-power motion sensor radio that “reads the subtle movement of your chest as you breathe, working from a few feet away,” per the brand. Not only will this make you privy to any shifts in your nocturnal breathing, but it will also report how much you move around — and when.
As a bookworm, I was delighted to discover Hatch’s extensive collection of audiobooks, replete with titles like “The Picture of Dorian Gray” and “Little Women.” I found myself learning, relaxing, and rapidly falling asleep with the Hatch Sleep Clock: all in the span of less than an hour. What more could a sleepmaxxer ask for?
“Sleep trackers can be useful for some people, but for others they create anxiety and make them obsess over sleep scores,” Harris offers.
The TL;DR? Make sure you approach said tracking from a place of healthy balance, tuning in to your body’s own cues, too.

BEST PAJAMAS
Petite Plume The Olivia Wide Leg Pima Pajama Set in Camel Ticking
$138
I adore my The Olivia pajamas from Petite Plume so much, I wrote a dedicated love letter to the style last year. This celeb-vetted hero product prides itself on vintage-inspired detailing; a yarn-dyed, 100-percent Peruvian Pima composition (texturally rich and resistant to fading); as well as chic, three-quarter sleeves and wide-legged bottoms that will flatter your figure as effectively as a go-to pair of jeans.
The impeccably tailored PJ set has served me well across multiple hotel stays and hundreds of at-home slumber sessions. Putting on the coordinates makes me feel pampered, cozy, and downright cute, without exception. All that might not have a direct correlation to the quality of my sleep, but it sure makes getting into bed more enticing (thanks to Petite Plume, I fantasize about this action around the clock, in fact).
The Olivia suits all sartorial sensibilities with its wide range of colorways and prints, whether you’re partial to stripes or have a soft spot for toile. Courtesy WWD/Stacia Datskovska
BEST SHEET SET
Buffy Breeze Sheet Set
$159.20 $199 20% off
Buffy’s Breeze Sheet Set clinched an “Editor’s Choice” designation in WWD’s roundup of the top luxury bedding to shop online. What this means? I’ve stayed loyal to the luscious bedsheets for over a year now, and they’ve only gotten prettier with every wash. Unlike cotton, the Breeze’s eucalyptus fabric eliminates both frizz and friction, imitates butter with its smoothness, masterfully combats wrinkles, goes easy on sensitive skin, and regulates temperature. As a sleeper who runs hot, this final component ensured I could fall asleep without the usual fidgeting and pillow flipping.
Cool to the touch, moisture-wicking, plant-based, and matte in appearance, this sheet set will soon become something you can’t spend the night without. As for the peace of mind you’ll be treated to vis-à-vis its fitted sheet’s deep-reaching elastic bands that won’t come undone, regardless of how restless you are in bed? It just might rival today’s most popular meditation apps.

Tips for Curating an Ideal Sleep Routine
“I try to keep my wake time relatively consistent. It’s one of the simplest ways to strengthen your circadian rhythm and create more predictable sleepiness at night. [I also] get outside for morning light and exercise regularly,” Harris says. “At night, I give myself some time to wind down rather than going directly from work or a busy evening into bed. I also try not to make my sleep routine overly complicated. One of the things I tell my patients is that sleep shouldn’t become another job you have to do perfectly.”
Some intuitive, low-effort steps you can take to put yourself in a headspace conducive to drifting off include dimming the lights, turning off tech 30 to 60 minutes before your intended bedtime, and finishing any meals two to three hours prior to complete “lights out.” It’s also wise to use your bed strictly for sleeping and intimacy — training your brain to exclusively associate this space with rest.
Other than that, climb into your Petite Plume pajamas, brew some tea, cuddle up under a Lola Blankets bestseller, throw on a sleep story by BetterSleep, and pop a Lemme Sleep Tight Gummy. Once you enter the initial stages of nodding off, affix Loop’s new sleep mask to your face and let yourself get carried away by the sheer softness of Buffy’s eucalyptus sheets — only to be awakened, many hours later, with Hatch’s gentle sunrise alarm.
If your sleeping woes morph into chronic insomnia, more targeted, long-term solutions might be required, such as CBT-I (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia) or prescription medication.
Common Misconceptions About Sleep
According to Harris, a prevalent misconception about sleep is that you need eight “perfect, uninterrupted” hours of it every night.
“Normal sleep includes awakenings and night-to-night variation. People also often assume that feeling tired means they didn’t sleep enough, when there are many possible reasons for daytime fatigue,” she reiterates. “And perhaps most importantly, people think they can force themselves to sleep. Sleep is not something you can simply make happen by trying harder.”
Indeed, one method for falling asleep is, quite simply, to let go. No dice? Consider techniques like progressive muscle relaxation, body scanning, box breathing, or even picturing your thoughts as clouds that are receding into the distance.
Before you know it, you’ll be in the thick of a dream.
Tech Before Bed: Do’s and Don’ts
To doomscroll in bed as a way of removing yourself from the events of the day or not to doomscroll? While we did say that tech usage right before sleeping is a no-no (screens emit blue light and blue light halts the release of melatonin, a hormone that manages the body’s sleep-wake cycle), Harris thinks it’s not all that simple.
“I don’t tell everyone they need to put their phone away three hours before bed or wear blue light–blocking glasses. The bigger issue is often what we’re doing on our devices, such as work or scrolling emotionally activating content… not simply the light from the screen,” she posits. “If your phone keeps you engaged or delays bedtime, that’s a problem. A good rule is to create some screen-free time before bed, but it doesn’t need to be rigid.”
From $30 timed lockboxes to restrictive apps and “dumb” phones, there’s a plethora of tangible (and shoppable) options out there for intentionally limiting screen time… aside from good ol’ fashioned self control, that is.
