Some of Hollywood’s biggest stars descended upon Los Angeles over the weekend for the Lucas Museum of Narrative Art Opening Night Gala, celebrating George Lucas’ new 300,000-square-foot space dedicated to art, film and imagination.
Located in LA’s Exposition Park neighborhood, the museum is built largely from Lucas’ personal collection of artwork and decades of film archives, with many pieces being showcased to the public for the first time. But if you can’t make it to Los Angeles to see the exhibits in person, fans and film enthusiasts alike can pick up the official coffee table book accompanying the new opening.

Lucas Museum of Narrative Art Book

$200
From art book publisher, Taschen, the two-volume catalog rounds up many of the Lucas Museum’s most important pieces, from paintings and illustrations, to comics, photography and cinematic archives.
There is also a section dedicated to Star Wars, the storied sci-fi franchise that propelled George Lucas to fame. The Star Wars pages gather everything from original costume sketches and concept drawings to never-before-seen photos from the production process. Taschen says the works “offer a rare look at the creative process behind one of the most enduring narrative worlds in modern culture.”
The hardcover tome also features commentary from Lucas himself, along with Oscar-winning director Guillermo del Toro and an introduction from Ryan Linkof, part of the founding curatorial team of the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures, and a former curator at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA).
“From ancient myths to modern blockbusters, stories have long shaped how we understand ourselves and the world around us,” reads a book description. “Created in collaboration with the Lucas Museum of Narrative Art, this two-volume monograph traces the rich history of visual storytelling across generations, cultures and artistic disciplines.
The Lucas Museum of Narrative Art coffee table book set features two volumes, each measuring approximately 9.6 x 12 inches in size, with a total page count of 832 pages.
The box set is available now for $200 on the Taschen website. You’ll want to add this to cart while it’s still in stock — the collectible set has already sold out on Amazon. This is an official release from Taschen and the museum.
