Dealing with flat feet? You’re not alone. Approximately 30 percent of the world’s population has the condition, which manifests in low or nonexistent arches that occur either naturally or are caused by injuries and other external factors.

The best running shoes for flat feet present a solution if not for changing your feet’s anatomy than at least for redistributing pressure, reducing fatigue during runs, and keeping you from overpronating (this happens when the feet roll inward with each step, a common side effect of having flat ones).

When hunting down the perfect sneaker that will help solve your flat-feet problems, there are a few key features to prioritize — among them roominess at the toe box and forefoot, the presence of stabilizing plates to limit the aforementioned rolling, and firm heel support that can offset the strain of overpronation.

Many of today’s leading footwear labels, from Brooks to Nike and beyond, have sections on their site dedicated specifically to flat feet: rounding up top-selling, highly cushioned shoes for athletes, pro and casual alike, that read more stylish than orthopedic. Our team has searched all corners of the internet, seeking out the top sneakers for flat feet, and the below six have stood out as the cream of the crop — going above and beyond to bolster the feet and keep you feeling great every mile of the way.

Brooks‘ August 2026 Ghost Max 4 release has already managed to woo runners with its high‑stack cushioning, propulsive rocker, smoother-than-smooth heel-to-toe transitions, and broad base. That last component is a godsend for the flat-footed among us, considering the fact that it can prevent your foot from spilling over the sides of the sole (flat feet tend to spread when you stand, walk, or run), not to mention control overpronation, improve balance, and ensure equal weight distribution.

The Ghost Max 4 sneaker for daily runs is so accommodating, in fact, that you can easily place an orthotic of choice inside. As for that lofty cushioning? It will remedy your arches’ inability to soften steps, cutting down on the impact and stress of each footfall.

With multiple trend-aware colorways to select from, this running sneaker for flat feet is also a looker and a half.

What reviewers say: “This shoe is great. The redesigned sole is flexible but supportive. Works well with insoles. The body of the shoe envelopes your foot and holds it in place. The upgrade gets rid of the clunkiness and stiffness of the Max 3.”

If your goal for the upcoming months is to get out more and rack up those miles, regardless of the weather you’re greeted with, let On’s top-rated Cloud 6 Waterproof shoe keep your (flat) feet fully protected from the elements. On Reddit, the Swiss running giant’s Cloud line is regularly shouted out for being good to feet that splay outward (once you properly break in your purchase) and for significantly bettering related pain.

This Cloud 6 version combines Zero-Gravity CloudTec cushioning for around-the-clock softness that won’t collapse beneath your weight, an energy-returning Speedboard plate, an updated geometry for a more inclusive fit, and what we like to think of as its pièce de résistance: a waterproof membrane on the upper that makes the rain go away.

This product is classified as a neutral shoe, so it won’t treat you to the enhanced stability and motion control you might need if you struggle with severe overpronation. Nevertheless, the flat-feet community with milder cases of this podiatric problem still endorses the Cloud for its step-in comfiness and being “SO easy to put on,” according to one Reddit user.

What reviewers say: “My husband’s feet are incredibly flat, and he says the On Clouds are some of his most comfy shoes.”

Saucony Guide 19 Sneaker

Unlike most picks in this roundup, Saucony’s Guide 19 sneaker comes not only in a Wide but an Extra Wide iteration, tailoring to flat feet’s habit of expanding. We love that its cushioning is ramped up to the “maximum” level, per the brand, and that the shoe benefits from Saucony’s CenterPath technology. In a nutshell, CenterPath is everything your flat feet have ever wanted: high sidewalls and broader-than-average platform included. The midsole’s foam, meanwhile, grants bounce just as the upper doles out stretch and thermoregulation during your sweatiest runs.

Despite being a stability shoe, this one feels forgiving and flexible.

What reviewers say: “I love this shoe! I have a very wide foot from midfoot to toes. The shoe has an amazing, rounded toe box — not too tapered, with plenty of height and stretch in the upper. It feels like a stability shoe that does not poke you in the arch or make your ankles roll. No rub on the toes at the top or the sides of the feet.”

Nike Vomero Plus Sneaker

Nike itself believes the Vomero Plus model is a no-brainer buy for flat feet, given that the Swoosh’s entire Vomero line is backed by responsive foam that supports the arches — eliminating soreness and fatigue. Also on offer? Lateral reinforcement for overpronators; a so-called “mountainous stack” height to keep the bottom of your feet off the ground, finally; and ample width, especially if you grab the kick in the dedicated Wide size at nike.com.

As a bonus, the Vomero Plus qualifies for Nike’s special customization feature, through which you can take the appearance of the shoe into your own hands. Runners are similarly going to appreciate its superior energy return, all-day breathability, and grippy, durable traction.

What reviewers say: “At 6’4″, 235 lbs, with flat/overpronating feet, these shoes are the best kicks I have had for running. I have over 400 miles on them, and they are still holding. Don’t change this formula, Nike!”

Need trusty traction for all your athletic endeavors? This is the shoe to shop, which also proves to be an ideal match for runners with flat feet. The Asics Gel-Kayano 33’s tread lives up to its hype (and marketing copy promises) on both wet and dry surfaces, while the company’s FluidSupport tech allows for smooth transitions and confident strides: catering to those whose feet land on the outside of the heel upon contact with the ground and then roll inward.

You’ll keep coming back to the same word while wearing this bestseller — cloud-like. And for good reason, since the shoe is kept at a lightweight 10.5 ounces and has two kinds of foam in the midsole (firmer at the sides and plusher at the rear for gentler landings).

What reviewers say: “These shoes are excellent. They properly support your stride, fit like a glove, and make you feel like you’re running on air!”

Hoka’s Arahi 8, launched last year, took the brand’s stability category to new heights — bringing with it a midsole innovation called H-Frame, which essentially embeds a firmer layer of foam within a softer foam composition to center the foot, avoid rolling, and spare the wearer from sensations of stiffness. As Hoka puts it, the system “combats overpronation while providing a smooth entry into the gait cycle”: translating to a more controlled, secure ride.

The Arahi 8’s hardworking cushioning is something to write home about, sure, but we’re even more impressed by its ability to keep things looking streamlined and sleek with all that elevation. Speaking of that, Hoka elevates the stepper’s upper with reflective details — a safety measure for when you’re pounding the pavement after sunset.

What reviewers say: “Pretty amazing shoe… a lifetime sneakerhead here, so I was not thrilled to have my podiatrist put me into these initially, but they’re great.”

What Are Flat Feet?

According to the Cleveland Clinic, flat feet is a condition that occurs when the arches of the feet don’t naturally develop during early childhood or else collapse later in life. Said arches play a crucial role in overall foot health — absorbing shock, adjusting to uneven surfaces, balancing body weight, and making movements more efficient by storing and releasing energy — so having low or nonexistent ones requires correction.

Those with flat feet who pursue running either casually or professionally would be wise to invest in a shoe that remedies this anatomical situation with targeted features (more on these later).

What Is Overpronation?

So too are running sneakers for overpronation a must-have in every flat-footed individual’s footwear arsenal, seeing as how overpronation is a gait pattern marked by the feet rolling inward and is much more likely to occur in tandem with flat feet (lack of arch support is directly linked to the rolling).

What to Look for in the Best Running Shoes for Flat Feet

Arch support: Because a flat-footed person’s arches can’t support themselves, it’s important to look for a sneaker that will lift the fallen arch and shift the body’s weight across the entire foot in the process. To maximize these effects, consider supplementing the shoe’s built-in arch support with an orthotic made particularly for flat feet and overpronation. Note that well-designed, arch-friendly cushioning for flat feet will, in true Goldilocks fashion, straddle the line between soft and firm — compressing after each step for that plush feeling while never collapsing too far and leaving the feet unassisted.

Stability: Keeping your stride straight and centered is essential in this case, so be sure to snag a stability or motion-control shoe that will do the colloquial heavy lifting in this department. Per Nike, both address “overpronation to reduce the likelihood of injury.” The former, though, secures “greater support through the midsole that may also extend into the heel,” while the latter does all that and treats wearers to extra heel support with a stiffer heel counter (being traditionally heavier as a result).

Wide fit: A wider sneaker base will give your feet added stability while guaranteeing unrestricted freedom for your toes. You’ll know it’s a just-right fit when neither the top nor the sides of your feet are being squished. That being said, most of the running shoes we’ve included in this article come in Wide or Extra Wide, further alleviating flat feet–related pressure.

How to Check for Flat Feet

From home, the easiest way to check whether or not you have flat feet is to conduct the “wet footprint test.” Simply wet the bottom of your foot from toes to heel, step down onto a piece of cardboard or a brown paper bag (basically any material that will show a wet footprint clearly), step off, and examine the shape that you left in your wake.

Imprints typically fall into three buckets. If the middle portion of your footprint is halfway filled in, with evident curvature along the arch, you have normal arches. If all you see on the cardboard or bag is a wet impression of your heel, the ball of the foot, and your toes, with the middle portion completely missing, you likely have high arches. And if the footprint looks like a full foot with no dry spots in the middle and no inward curvature, the diagnosis is usually flat feet.

For confirmation and subsequent advice, it’s best to turn to a board-certified podiatrist.
