Josh Kerr is the name that was heard around the world on July 18, 2026, after the 28-year-old Scot smashed the world record for the fastest mile — running (or, more accurately, sprinting) the distance in just three minutes, 42 seconds, and 66 milliseconds. The previous men’s world record in the category (three minutes, 43 seconds, 13 milliseconds) was achieved in 1999, which means it took over two decades for someone with Kerr’s superhuman athleticism to come along and do it even better.
